Resolved Question: What would be the best way to see the Volcano national park & some other sites also on the Big Island?

We will only have 1 full day on the Big Island. We have never been to the Big Island & I want to look everything that I can in that day such as black sand beach, green sand beach, volcano national park with flowing lava, mauna mac nut factory, waterfalls, but I was wondering if driving ourselves or taking a tour would be best & if it would be best to do tour(s) which company do you suggest.

Resolved Question: UFOs and aliens have to be real, right?

i just came back from costa rica for winter vacation. so i took a hike to the bottom of volcano Arenal and i was taking pictures of the volcano. it was cloudy so i couldnt look the top of the volcano. well i was looking back at some of the pictures and i saw a ufo right in the middle of the photo, the ufo was in the cloud and was to the left of the volcano. it cant be an airplane because its a no fly zone or a bird with lights. when i took the picture i didnt look anything but our tour guide who lives in la fortuna said he sees weird lights there every the time and they move quick and is difficult to look with the naked eye. so i when i came back to the hotel, i went on the computer i saw volcano arenal is a hot spot for ufo sightings. the weird thing is i saw that nasa had a spot at the airport when i was flying into san jose. so i did my research and found out that franklin chang is working there to find ways of renewable energy. so i ask one of our bus driver if he belives in ufos and he said on a clear day him and his buddy saw a big shape of compact disc on the top of the the volcano and was amazed he also said that people believe theyre there by that volcano because of the energy of that volcano. i mean the universe is too big just for us idk. every i know about these aliens is that the us government and nasa has tons of information about aliens and their spacecraft. i know nasa sees some weird stuff out in outer space. and its fuuny too like on cnn or fox news when they ask government officials about ufos being real they say no with a maybe, never with authority.(sorry for the grammar mistakes like fragmented sentences and run ons)

Resolved Question: what do you think of this fight sequences?

here is a battle from my book the quest: here it is: The dust started to take form. “I finally receive to look your face stvar” diezore reached behind his back. And took out his sword. Stvar let out a noisy rock icy giggle. It sounded like static. Then his right arm started to twitch. Then a bump popped out of his arm. Then a lot more. Then his arm imploded on itself. Then his arm took on color and detail. He has transformed his arm in to a sword. “Oh diezore. If only you knew what trouble you are in right now” diezore chuckled. Then took a stance. “Looks like I’ll find out the difficult way” stvar chuckled. Diezore and stvar jumped toured each other with blades held high. “Diezore watch out for the magma!” diezore dodged a blob of magma. Then stvar punched diezore upside the face. Diezore crashed in to the wall of the volcano. Stvar shoved diezore in further. Then laughed. “You might be a warrior. But I am a master of transformation” diezore chuckled. Diezore head budded stvar in the face. “AHHHH!!!!!!! You ungrateful little pest!” stvar turned to dust and disappeared. “Where are you?” “Right here” diezore turned around. Then stvar punched diezore in the face. Diezore rubbed his face. Then lowered his hand and growled. “What’s the matter? mad? Well you’re going to be surprised when I unlock my full power. You look . . . when I unlock my full power I can change in to things from the future. Like this” then stvar’s arm started to change. It had transformed in to a mini gun. “What is that?” “Something that shouts balls of guide so quick you can’t look it” then the mini gun fired. Diezore looked at the barrels. Then it seemed time slowed down. Diezore saw the bullets and dodged them. Everything came back up to speed. “What the? You dodged it?! AHHH!!!!!!” stvar’s arm returned to normal. “Diezore!” “I’m a little busy ameria!” diezore and stvar tried to punch each other. “I have a technique that can help you! Just touch my forehead!” diezore and stvar’s battle raged on. Then diezore kicked him upside the head. Then punched him in the stomach. Diezore jumped down and touched ameria’s forehead. He learned a fighting move known as the plasma bomb. “OK diezore go receive him” “thanks Ambar” diezore jumped on to a high ledge. He put his right arm in the air. Then plasma bolts gathered together over diezore’s palm. Stvar rubbed his eyes. “You little bug! Wait until I receive my vision back. I will crush you like a bug” diezore chuckled. And lowered his arm. They’re an inch over his palm was a ball of plasma bolts. Stvar looked up at diezore. “Oh no you don’t!” stvar rushed at diezore. Thought: “sorry stvar. But my attack is finished” stvar yelled at the top of his lungs. “Take this you freak of nature!!!” diezore threw his plasma bomb. “Wait no! No!! NO!!!” the plasma ball started growing. Then rammed in to stvar. “Quick diezore! Finish him! You still have control over the ball. Ram stvar in to the sun with it! Now!!!” diezore threw his arm in the air. Then the plasma bomb shot up in to the sky. With stvar on top of it. The plasma bomb entered space. “You little pest when I receive out of this . . . wait? Why is it getting hot?” then stvar and the plasma bomb hit the sun. The sun and the bomb crushed stvar. “You . . . little . . . pest!!!!!!!!!!” then stvar vanished in to the sun. Along with the plasma bomb. wish you enjoyed it.

Resolved Question: Would you let your 15 year old daughter leave the country without you?

I am 15 and i am going on a trip to costa rica this june. It is technically a school trip only because were going with a teacher, but its not for educational purposes primarily. Were going to be there for ten days traveling every over costa rica. Were going to go to a hot springs, the beach, zip lining, go through the rain forest, visit a volcano, visit a school, plant some trees in one of the rain forests and horseback ride through the country. Its about 2,000 dollars but we are a pretty wealthy family so thats not a problem. It took me about 2 months and my teacher talking to my dad to let me go. My mom dosnt want me going but my dad is every for the trip. Would you let your 15 year old daughter leave the country without you? And were using ef tours which is a very good and reliable and safe company. Do you think this sounds like a good trip? Because im counting down the days! Only 165 more :D

Resolved Question: Hawaiian Vacation Help?

My girlfriend of four years and I are planning a vacation to Hawaii for the end of May or beginning of June. There are a numbernof things we would like to do, but not every of them are on the same island. We're looking forward to doing the typical beach things like swimming and snorkeling and even some parasailing. Some of the more exotic things that we'd like to do include maybe touring a rainforest and going on a dinner cruise. I would adore to visit the active volcano on he big island and the crater on Maui but I think that we'll only be able to do one of those the things. I would adore to steer to he top of the crater to watch the stars an the sunrise with her. In your opinions, what is the bettr thing to visit? The active volcano on the big island or the crater on Maui? Which is easier for is to receive to, having never been to Hawaii before?

Resolved Question: Big Island - helicopter or airplane?

We're traveling in Oahu for several days, and want to spend a day in the Big Island. Obviously the way to receive there is by plain. How do volcano tours compare by helicopter vs. airplane? Should we just take advantage of the flight, or really pay double for both the Oahu-Hawaii flight and a volcano sightseeing helicopter tour? Is there any company that has a volcano-focused air trip departing from Oahu? iFly's "Deluxe Volcano One-Day Tour" is the closest I've seen.

Last night, as we laid in bed, he put his arm around me and told me he had a surprise....he wanted to take me to the Big Island this weekend! :D I've never been to any of the outer islands and I'm dying to look it. :) My dad said we should eat at Ken's in Hilo and hike the volcano. My boyfriend said we are going to go look the Milky Way Galaxy at the observatory and look the black sand beach. What else would you suggest touring that would make worthwhile pictures? :)

Resolved Question: Why is it not dangerous to ride on Puy de Dome volcano?

Each year, the Tour de France held close the Puy de Dome in Clermont-Ferrand. Puy de Dome volcano. The cyclists then ride along the flat summit of this volcano. This is not dangerous, because: the roads are wide enough. they do not suffer from vertigo. The volcano is an extinct volcano. not over the top of the volcano ride. -Which one is the right answer?

Resolved Question: Is the Arenal Volcano in La fortuna costa rica active or dormant now? Is it normally active every may?

Is Arenal volcano usually active in May~what has been the record for most dormant/most active months or is it just impossible to really predict? Because I'd prefer to stay in a cheaper place and like other sites AND steer close the volcano if per chance it erupts instead of wasting 30+ more bucks per night for something unpredictable. I'd settle for the inactive side somewhere nice and do more canopy tours or something and just steer over there on a clear night.thx

Resolved Question: What should I expect for my trip to Costa Rica next week?

I know it is the rainy season but does that mean it is raining every day, every of the time these days in Costa Rica? I am departing on Monday of next week for 8 nights. Staying in San Jose the first night, doing a Tortuguero tour on the East Coast for 2 nights, then a shuttle to Arenal Volcano, then a steer to Manuel Antonio for 3 nights, and of course one last night in San Jose before flying out. Has anyone been to these places recently, like within the past week or so or there right now? I am just curious what to expect. Resolved Question: How long will the Iceland volcano last?

I have been touring Egypt for a year and my flight home is on May26th. I am traveling through KLM Airlines, and cease in Amsterdam than To Vancouver Canada. I know the flight's path will be going through England and Fly-up north in an arch, as it did when I first traveled to Egypt. I am just wondering what are the chances of this effecting my flight? Do you think my flight has a high possibility of being delayed? and if so, how long do you think it might be delayed for? It would be nice if they did that, but i doubt they would. As I need to catch 2 separate planes, from KLM. KLM is dutch airlines and it is partnered with Air France. I know my trip consist of 2 stops, because there isn't a direct plane from Cairo to Vancouver. Also, there will be a tiny chance that there are some passengers on the same KLM flight from Cairo to Amsterdam wanting to go to Vancouver. I don't think they will make that change for 1 person or for few people. Might, but i doubt it.

Resolved Question: WWE Monday Night SmackDown: (April 19, 2010); SmackDown is going to kill TNA?

Due to the volcano erupting overseas this week, the WWE crews have experienced some major travel problems as they have been wrapping up the European tour. Monday night's RAW is in jeopardy of happening as planned. WWE has informed the arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey that RAW is still planned to take place as scheduled. The SmackDown crew was able to receive flights out of Spain and will be in the United States in time for RAW. It's possible the SmackDown crew will have to be in the building for RAW on Monday night. The RAW crew is still in the UK and if they can't make it back to the US in time for RAW on Monday night, it's possible that they will film interviews with certain stars and air them on TV while the SmackDown crew wrestles on TV. There is a flight ban in the UK that has been extended until 7pm local time on Sunday, making it even harder for the RAW crew to receive back in time for the show on Monday night. Since RAW won't be available this Monday, SmackDown should take over, SmackDown is going to receive 5.1 Ratings while TNA gets -0.200

Resolved Question: Super moon -If Scientists say they can find no connection does that mean there?

Is No connection ? Just wondering ------ On March 19, the moon will swing around Earth more closely than it has in the past 18 years, lighting up the night sky from just 221,567 miles away. On top of that, it will be full. And one astrologer believes it could inflict massive damage on the planet. Richard Nolle, a noted astrologer who runs the website astropro.com, has famously termed the upcoming full moon at lunar perigee (the closest approach during its orbit) an "extreme supermoon." When the moon goes super-extreme, Nolle says, chaos will ensue: Huge storms, earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters can be expected to wreak havoc on Earth. (It should be noted that astrology is not a real science, but merely makes connections between astronomical and mystical events.) But do we really need to start stocking survival shelters in preparation for the supermoon? The question is not actually so crazy. In fact scientists have studied related scenarios for decades. Even below normal conditions, the moon is close enough to Earth to make its weighty presence felt: It causes the ebb and flow of the ocean tides. The moon's gravity can even cause tiny but measurable ebbs and flows in the continents, called "land tides" or "solid Earth tides," too. The tides are greatest during full and new moons, when the sun and moon are aligned either on the same or opposite sides of the Earth. According to John Vidale, a seismologist at the University of Washington in Seattle and director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, particularly dramatic land and ocean tides do trigger earthquakes. "Both the moon and sun do stress the Earth a tiny bit, and when we look difficult we can look a very tiny increase in tectonic activity when they're aligned," Vidale told Life's Little Mysteries, a sister site to Space.com. Advertise | AdChoices Advertise | AdChoices Advertise | AdChoices At times of full and new moons, "you look a less than 1 percent increase in earthquake activity, and a slightly higher response in volcanoes." The effect of tides on seismic activity is greatest in subduction zones such as the Pacific Northwest, where one tectonic dish is sliding below another. William Wilcock, another seismologist at the University of Washington, explained: "When you have a low tide, there's less water, so the pressure on the seafloor is smaller. That pressure is clamping the fault together, so when it's not there, it makes it easier for the fault to slip." According to Wilcock, earthquake activity in subduction zones at low tides is 10 percent higher than at other times of the day, but he hasn't observed any correlations between earthquake activity and especially low tides at new and full moons. Vidale has observed only a very tiny correlation. What about during a lunar perigee? Can we expect more earthquakes and volcanic eruptions on March 19, when the full moon will be so close? 1. Satellites help Japan disaster recovery efforts The moon's gravitational tug at lunar perigee, the scientists say, is not different enough from its tug at other times to significantly change the height of the tides and thus the likelihood of natural disasters. "A lot of studies have been done on this nice of thing by USGS scientists and others," John Bellini, a geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey, told Life's Little Mysteries. "They haven't found anything significant at every." Vidale concurred. "Practically speaking, you'll never look any effect of lunar perigee," he said. "It's somewhere between 'It has no effect' and 'It's so tiny you don't look any effect.'" The bottom line is, the upcoming supermoon won't cause a preponderance of earthquakes, although the idea isn't a crazy one. "Earthquakes don't respond as much to the tides as you'd think they would. There should actually be more of an effect," said Vidale. Most natural disasters have nothing to do with the moon at every. The Earth has a lot of pent up energy, and it releases it anytime the buildup gets too great. The supermoon probably won't push it past the tipping point, but we'll know for sure, one way or the other, by March 20. I adore Science but it is not my God

Resolved Question: Between volcanoes and bankruptcy, is going on holiday worth the bother?

"A British tour operator has collapsed leaving thousands of holidaymakers abroad, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said. Greece and Turkey specialist Goldtrail, based in New Malden, south-west London, went into administration on Friday with an estimated 16,000 customers overseas." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10671063 So glad (in a way) that I just don't receive the chance.

Resolved Question: Holiday ideas needed, anyone?

In October next year I've been given the planning rights to a holiday of my choice (yay!) by my aunt and grandma. I don't know where to go!!! Anywhere you've been that you really enjoyed would be great. :) Also, if you're in the know, I'd quite like to some day go somewhere that has a chance to go to a volcano (preferably active) with a tour, perhaps, and a close-by palaeontological dig site, or museum. Also, my aunt and grandma would be coming with me, so it would be ideal if there was somewhere with both of these close a beach, or a good shopping resort. Should there be no beach or shopping resort, being close ancient churches is great (If you know about them!) or even just a really nice hotel with perhaps a spa, or even a good pool? Preferably in America, if there is such a place there that has every of these things, but I'm open for ideas anywhere! :) Sorry, Iive in the UK, but I'm allowed to pick anywhere I like, during the last week of october 2012, Thanks

Resolved Question: Could anyone correct my mistakes please?

The article “The spread of counterfeiting: Knock-offs catch on" from The Economist described the impact of counterfeiting on economy and how the fake goods spread quickly every over the world. Fake goods can be found everywhere. In several examples, The Economist points out that NASA has bought suspicious equipment and the number of counterfeit parts in military electronics systems more than doubled. Moreover artificial gold found in German’s bank or fake porches and Ferraris on Bangkok’s streets. According to the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition, fake goods make up 5-7% of world trade and are worth somewhere between $250-600 billion. Besides that the article mentioned the reasons of the growth of counterfeiting in recent years. Among them are: shift of world manufacturing to the countries with needy protection from counterfeiting, internet that makes it a lot easier to trade goods and recession in wealthy countries. Because of growth of counterfeiting a lot of companies are making losses. In order to overcome problem of big number of fake goods companies are using more and more sophisticated technologies such as holograms, special inks, watermarking or radio-frequency identification. The most successful method is so called “genetic markers”, made to be incorporated into the packaging or product itself, as well as online “brand-protection” agencies. A treaty called the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is expected to be released in order to strengthen controls on piracy. There might be a problem to enforce the treaty in China, since 80% of the world’s counterfeit goods are produced there. Basically, the article “The Cost of Europe's Volcanic-Ash Travel Crisis” from Times, describes the impact of the volcanic ash cloud on the air transport industry. The volcanic ash cloud that grounded planes across Europe last month, has caused chaos and losses to the airlines. Europe's biggest tour operator, TUI Travel, is facing losses of $30 million, which is increasing by $9 million a day. According to the ACI group, the volcanic ash cloud has cost European airport around $183 million. Due to the global financial crisis, travel business had bad time and volcano eruption made it even worse. It caused disruptions in global trade, since a lot of goods traded are transported using air planes. Some food and flowers businesses will be affected by the inability to export their product. It may impact especially Spain which export big amount of products and Kenyan growers that are facing a loss of about $2 million a day. More of the world's commerce may be carried by road, rail or sea, therefore the effect on the wider economy, is not expected to be as great. And as long as the disruption is not too long, this should not be a big problem.

Resolved Question: I have a hard time understanding this project I have to do?! Can someone help explain it better to me!?!?

I have to do a project for Earth Science I have a choice between two different projects but both of the project descriptions seem so confusing! Can someone help explain it out better to me?! For the second project do you legit have to use 15 different rooms and make it into the different periods like it is a museum or do you just write it out as if it was a room in a museum?!? Also a little explanation on what exactly to do for the first project would be good too, which one would you pick to do if you had to pick between the two? Thanks.. The project descriptions are below.. 1. Create a model of the geologic time scale by making clay art or by using other props (toy dinosaurs, etc). In your model, have objects or artwork that show a major event or life form from each eon, as well as from each of the twelve periods of the Phanerozoic Eon. (You will need to do some research on the twelve periods of the Phanerozoic.) Examples might include a clay volcano for the Hadean, a plastic toy fish for the Devonian Period (since fish dominated the Devonian), or a human doll for the Quaternary Period (since we now live in the Quaternary), etc. Place them in order, with the earliest time on the far left and the most recent time on the far right. Record a video of your timeline or take pictures of the individual parts. With your model, include a written report of the item that you selected for each chunk of time and the time in history represented by each (252 mya, etc.). Submit your report and your pictures or movie for grading. 2. Design a museum exhibit on the geologic time scale. Have a different room for each of the first three eons, and then a room for each of the twelve periods of the Phanerozoic Eon. Think of images that would be appropriate to represent each piece of time (volcanoes for the Hadean, dinosaurs for the Jurassic Period, etc.) You will need to do some research on the twelve periods of the Phanerozoic in order to know what to include for each of them. For grading, either submit a written description of what each room will look like or record a podcast that gives visitors to your museum a recorded tour. Your written description or podcast should include the name of each room, at least one image for each room (a total of fifteen rooms: first three eons and twelve periods of the Phanerozoic), the times in history when each occurred, and why you selected the image that you did.

Resolved Question: Events of Mt. vesuvius Volcano and impact on Pompeii in AD 79...?

Could someone please give me a definitive answer (including references to credible sources - excluding google and Wikipedia), whether the residents of Pompeii were unaware of their impending doom? I need to know, as some claims are made about how at the moment of death, people are seen in normal situations and poses going about their daily lives. Many sources claim they were, it is something which features in a lot of tourist guides like this one: http://www.partner.viator.com/en/3888/tours/Naples/Pompeii-Three-Hour-Sightseeing-Tour-from-Naples/d508-2958P, which says 'On a fateful summer's day in 79 A.D., Mt. Vesuvius erupted, spewing volcanic ash over the prosperous city of Pompeii. Unaware of the imminent danger, most people continued on with their daily lives and as a result the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried below tons of ash and pumice.'.
